Public sector teachers continue to face salary-related issues

The nation’s public sector teachers continue to face salary-related issues.

 

After several missed dates, teachers began receiving their March salaries and retroactive payments yesterday (March 27) however, the wage issues are far from over.

 

Approximately 1,400 of the educators who have been anticipating their salaries under the restructured compensation system will have to wait until Friday to get their wages, due to anomalies related to the payments.

 

IRIE FM news understands that more teachers, even some of those who have gotten paid are also affected by errors.

 

Last evening, the Jamaica Teachers Association held a virtual workshop aimed at helping teachers calculate their new salaries and detecting anomalies.

 

Several of the teachers reported issues with shortened salaries.
