Police working with curry manufacturer to determine ingredients of fake product seized

The police are working with the manufacturer of a local curry brand to verify the ingredients of packages of counterfeit curry which were seized at a supermarket in Manchester, on Wednesday.

It’s reported that several boxes of fake curry were seized at the business place.

Head of the police’s Intellectual Property Rights Unit Deputy Superintendent Victor Barrett said the seizure took place at about 3:45 p.m.

He said lawmen have partnered with the genuine manufacturer to carry out tests on the fake curry.

Speaking on Irie FM’s Stepping Razor Programme yesterday, with Host Mutabaruka, Superintendent Barrett said the counterfeit goods have an estimated value of over 3 million Jamaican dollars.

He said the brand of curry is being withheld to prevent a drop in sales.
