Police facing roadblocks in Gabriel King murder investigation

The St. James police say they are facing several roadblocks in the investigation into the murder of nine-year-old Gabriel King, in an alleged carjacking in St. James in January this year.

King’s body was found with the throat slashed in his mother’s blue Audi SUV, after she was allegedly forced from the vehicle by armed thugs.

Head of the St. James police division, Senior Superintendent Vernon Ellis, says his team has employed a range of technical and forensic tools in an attempt to make a breakthrough in the case.

He noted however that the efforts have been met with a lack of cooperation from potential key witnesses.

SSP Ellis stressed that investigations are time sensitive, while noting that from the day of King’s murder the police have been faced with roadblocks, non-cooperation and legal fencing from persons who should be readily assisting with the investigation.
