Police capture wanted man and recover illegal firearm within first hour of St Catherine SOE
The police have reported the capturing of a wanted man and the recovery of an illegal firearm within the first hour of the Declaration of a State of Public Emergency for the parish of St. Catherine.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced a State of Public Emergency at a virtual press briefing from his office this morning (June 17) shortly after 8.
This is in an effort to stem crime and ongoing gang feuds taking place in sections of Spanish Town.
It was reported that lawmen assigned to the St. Catherine South Police Division conducted targeted operations in the Gregory Park area and apprehended a man who is wanted for murder and shootings.
One .38 revolver loaded with six .38 cartridges was also seized.
The man will be interviewed by detectives in relation to other crimes committed in the parish.
His identity is being withheld at this time.
