PNP wants disclosure regarding US$100,000 PR contract for Johnson-Smith’s Commonwealth Secretary General campaign
The Opposition, People’s National Party has called for full disclosure of the 100,000 US dollar contract, entered by unknown persons with Jamaica Tourist Board’s US Public Relations Agency, Finn Partners, to execute PR activities for Kamina Johnson Smith’s campaign for Commonwealth Secretary General.
The call follows, a revelation by the Office of the Prime Minister, that the campaign cost some 18.2 million Jamaican dollars.
The OPM said Finn Partners provided Public Relations, Media Relations and thought leadership services for the campaign, noting that the government was not a party to this arrangement, which was reportedly secured by corporate Jamaica.
In a statement this afternoon (August 8), Opposition Spokesperson on Information, Senator Donna Scott Mottley said this information is necessary for the public.
She is calling for a full detailed analysis to determine if Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade policies have been compromised by the acceptance of undisclosed funds, from local or international private sector interests.
