PM to be updated on number of persons found with illegal guns since implementation of new Firearms Act
An update on the number of persons who have been found with illegal guns since the implementation of the new Firearms Act is to be provided to Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
The new Firearms Act which was implemented recently allows for persons who commit breaches to be sentenced to 15 years or more in prison if convicted.
Speaking at a ceremony in St. Ann yesterday (December 19). Mr. Holness said the security forces have been successful in the fight against illegal guns.
However, he said while he is grateful for that victory, he is more interested in the persons who have been found with these illegal weapons.
He was expected to receive a report on the matter yesterday.
Mr. Holness issued a stern warning to those who think that they will be spared under the new Firearms Act.
