PM Andrew Holness says gun amnesty coming soon
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has reiterated the government’s intention to implement a gun amnesty as soon as the new Firearms Act is entered into force.
Speaking at the passing out parade of the national police college today (September 14), Mr. Holness noted that it will be left up to the Minister of National Security and the parliament to determine the form of the amnesty.
He added that while some persons may be critical of the move, he thinks it’s fair given the new firearms regulations that will be implemented.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for members of the government to support the new firearms act.
