Phillip Paulwell calls for changes in the way the Standing Finance Committee operates

Leader of Opposition Business in Parliament, Phillip Paulwell has called for fundamental changes to be made in the operation of the standing finance committee.

At this morning’s meeting, which is now underway, Mr. Paulwell claimed that after making checks, there was no recording of committee meetings, despite hours of discussions by members in the past.

He said steps must be taken to ensure that the meetings are meaningful and less tiresome.

In response to Mr. Paulwell’s claims, Leader of Government Business, Edmund Bartlett said, while changes in the committee’s operations must take place, recordings and reports of the meetings are available.
