Persons urged to envision future where Africans claim their place at the forefront of the world stage

As the world celebrates Africa Day today, the PJ Patterson Institute for Africa Caribbean Advocacy is urging individuals to envision a future where Africa and people of African descent claim their rightful place at the forefront of the international stage.

Africa Day is being observed under the theme, ‘Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century.’

In a statement, the Institute said it is committed to building a brighter future through education and collaboration with African countries.

It said as the region strives to educate African and Caribbean people fit for the 21st century, the legacies of colonialism and oppression that continue to shape the education systems must be confronted.

It said this means decolonising curricula, and celebrating the diversity of African cultures and languages.
