Several passengers aboard a Spirit Airline flight which took off from the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James, yesterday received a major scare, after the plane had to make an emergency landing.

Reports are that shortly after flight NK270 departed for Fort Lauderdale in the United States at about 1:10 PM, it encountered issues with passengers claiming that they were informed of a possible emergency landing in the sea.

MBJ Airports Limited told IRIE FM news that it could not confirm what the crew communicated to the passengers, but said the aircraft did experience challenges.

It said the plane returned and landed safely at the airport.
