The opposition People’s National Party, PNP, says the repeated postponement of the local government elections, will help to weaken the country’s democratic process.
According to the agenda for Tuesday‘s sitting of the House of Representatives, postponement of the local polls, is to be formally sought, for a third time, since November 2020.
Local Government Minister, Desmond Mckenzie, will open the debate, to facilitate the postponement.
However, PNP General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell told Irie Fm news, that there is no valid reason, for the elections to be put off, at this time.
He said the delay in the local government elections, is a political ploy of the government.
