Opposition raises questions as to if PM Holness knew that Dr. Andrew Wheatley was being investigated by Integrity Commission before reinstating him to Cabinet

The Opposition People’s National Party is questioning whether or not Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness knew that Dr. Andrew Wheatley was being investigated by the Integrity Commission, before reinstating him to the Cabinet last year.

It follows a report from the Integrity Commission and a ruling that Dr. Wheatley be charged with a number of offences, to include alleged illicit enrichment.

Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson said he finds it ironic that Dr. Wheatley was brought back to the Cabinet following his exit in 2018, due to another allegation, relating to corruption, when he was the Minister of Energy.

Robinson is calling on other members of parliament, who may be under investigation to declare themselves.

The Integrity Commission had indicated years ago that some parliamentarians were under investigations for alleged illicit enrichment.

They were not identified.
