The Opposition People’s National Party, PNP is reiterating its call for Health Minister, Dr. Christopher, Tufton to resign.

In its latest protest, yesterday (November 5), placard-bearing members of the party’s region five, gathered near the entrance of the Mandeville Regional Hospital in Manchester, to renew their call.

The PNP is demanding that Dr. Tufton be sacked, over the handling of the bacterial outbreak at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital which resulted in the deaths of some babies.

Councillor for the Bellefield division Mario Mitchell who was part of yesterday’s protest, said the government should be transparent on the issue.

And, Chairman of the PNP‘s Region Five, Kern Spencer, questioned why the Health Minister did not make the matter public, sooner.

He warned that if the government does not address the matter publicly in the next 48 hours, the protests, will continue islandwide.

In the meantime, Keisha Phillips-Sutherland of the PNP‘s Women’s Movement claimed that Dr. Tufton has been dishonest about the situation.
