Omar Mcleod & Brittany Anderson victorious at the Meeting Città di Savona in Italy

Former Olympic champion Omar McLeod and national record holder Brittany Anderson were both winners at the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger meet in Savona, Italy on Wednesday.

McLeod, in his first hurdle race in over a year, clocked 13.37 seconds on route to victory in the men’s 110 metre hurdles to finish ahead of Joshua Zeller of Great Britain who ran a season-best 13.42 seconds with Spain’s Enrique Llopis next across the line 13.43 seconds.

Anderson in the meantime sped to victory in the women’s 100 meter hurdles in a season-best 12.88 seconds to beat Sarah Lavin of Ireland who took the runner-up spot in 12.92 seconds.

It marked her return to the track after being forced to end the 2023 campaign prematurely after four indoor 60m races due to injury.

The setback came after a season where she captured her first major global medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon where she won silver in the women’s 100m hurdles in a wind-assisted 12.23 seconds.

During that campaign in Oregon, she also claimed the national record by clocking 12.31 seconds in her semi-final.
