Transport Minister Daryl Vaz says Gov’t working on finding practical solution to traffic ticket problem
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz has pledged that the Government is working on finding a practical solution to the traffic ticket problem.
This as the hosting of special traffic ticket days, while temporarily helpful, is expensive and unsustainable.
Speaking at a post Cabinet press briefing today, Mr. Vaz noted that the recent traffic ticket day exercise cost the Court Administration Division over $28 million.
He said part of the solution is to fix the demerit system, and have a zero tolerance approach to breaches of traffic regulations.
The Transport Minister also maintains that the ministry is working towards the October 1 implementation date for the demerit points system.
