NWU still locked in meeting with JPS and Labour Ministry over issues affecting staff

The National Workers’ Union is still locked in a meeting with the management of Jamaica Public Service (JPS) and the Labour Ministry over issues affecting staff.

Today’s meeting was slated for 11 AM but at 6 PM discussions between the parties were ongoing.

The Union and JPS are at odds over claims that the light and power company did not honour written agreements to convert some employees from contractual to permanent positions.

Today’s meeting is the second this week after the union issued a strike notice on the company last Friday.
