NWC says Corporate Area water to be regulated due to drought

Effective Monday February 20, there is to be a new water supply schedule for Kingston and  St Andrew.

This, as the National Water Commission, NWC, takes steps to preserve water supply to the KSA region amidst a drought facing the country.

NWC says inflows to a number of surface water sources across the island continue to decline due to drought conditions.

The current water level at the hermitage dam is 63.5 per cent while the mona reservoir is at 76 per cent of its capacity.

As such, communities above the ministry of justice, around the Constant Spring and Queens-Borough areas, will receive water supply from 6 pm to 6 a-m, while areas below the ministry, including Half Way Tree and Cross Roads, there will be supplied from 6 am to 6pm.

Meanwhile, areas in the vicinity of Papine including Mona Heights and August Town will have supply from 6 am to 9 pm.

The NWC adds that it is also considering the implementation of regulated supply schedules and other mitigating methods across the island in light of the drought.
