NIA calls on Gov’t to promptly publish code of conduct for parliamentarians and provide timeline for implementation
The National Integrity Action (NIA) is calling on the Government to promptly publish the Code of Conduct for Parliamentarians for public feedback, and provide a timeline for its implementation.
The organisation made the call, following what it describes as racist remarks during the Jamaica Labour Party’s Annual Conference on Sunday.
NIA’s Principal Director Danielle Archer says there must be an urgent review of the Code as an approach to strengthening it, with criminal sanctions for breaches.
Ms. Archer also endorses the Private Sector of Jamaica (PSOJ’s) view that racial comments uttered by some JLP members are disrespectful, divisive and have no place in the Jamaican context.
