National Workers’ Union and JPS to meet again on Wednesday to discuss issues affecting workers

Representatives from the National Workers’ Union (NWU) and the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) will meet again on Wednesday to iron out issues affecting some JPS workers.

This, after a meeting with the parties at the Labour Ministry’s Kingston office today ended without a resolution.

Last Friday a strike notice was served to JPS, over claims that it did not honour written agreements to convert scores of workers from contractual to permanent positions.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, NWU General Secretary Granville Valentine, said his team tabled all written agreements with the JPS during today’s discourse.

He said Wednesday’s meeting is slated for 11 AM. Mr. Valentine also noted that the workers remain restive.
