MOCA welcomes ruling of UK Privy Council regarding ability to search and seize material

The Major Organised Crime and Anti-corruption Agency, MOCA, has welcomed the landmark ruling by the UK Privy Council regarding the agency’s ability to seize and search material and information, prior to the enactment of the Proceeds of Crime Legislation in 2007.

The matter relates to attorney-at-law dawn Satterswaite, and her claim regarding documents taken from her office during police investigations into the activities of her client Andrew Hamilton, who has been convicted for drug offences.

MOCA’s Director of Legal and Prosecutorial Services, Nigel Parke, told Irie Fm news that the court ruling provides guidance for other probes.
