Met Service extends flash flood watch and warning until 5 PM tomorrow

The Flash Flood Watch and Warning for Jamaica have been extended until 5:00 P.M. tomorrow.

Parishes under the Flash Flood Warning are Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, Manchester, Clarendon, St. Catherine, St. Andrew, Kingston, and St. Thomas.

While Hanover, St. James, Trelawny, St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland are under the Flash Flood Watch.

A Flash Flood Warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly, while a Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents should take precautionary measures.

The Met Service says as the center of Tropical Storm Rafael continues to move northwestward and away from Jamaica, towards Cayman, its outer rain bands will continue to influence weather conditions across the country.

The forecast is for more rain associated with lingering moisture from Tropical Storm Rafael, this evening through to tomorrow afternoon.

Flash flooding and landslides are expected as a result.
