May Pen Mayor urges vendors not to attack municipal police following stone attack which left officer hospitalized
Mayor of May Pen, Winston Maragh is urging vendors in Clarendon not to attack the Municipal Police who are carrying out their duties in the parish.
His appeal comes after a municipal policeman was injured in a stone attack in May Pen, yesterday (December 19).
The incident which was captured on video, occurred while a team of municipal police was addressing a situation of illegal vending in the town.
Reports are that during the incident, an altercation developed between irate vendors and some members of the team.
One of the officers attempted to quell the altercation and was hit with a stone.
He has been hospitalized.
Speaking with IRIE FM news Mayor Maragh condemned the incident.
He urged vendors to abide by the vending rules.
