Manchester councillor renews call for Troy Bridge to be repaired
As schools resume today, councillor for the Mile Gully Division in Manchester and senior educator Rohan Kennedy, says the absence of the Troy bridge continues to affect students and teachers within the area.
The bridge located at the border of Manchester and Trelawny, collapsed on August 18, 2021, and is yet to be repaired by the authorities.
Last September, Prime Minister Andrew Holness promised to visit the area.
He also promised to fast track the replacement of the bridge.
The National Works Agency also indicated that the new design for the bridge was complete.
However, there has been no word as to the financing of work to construct a new bridge.
Councillor Kennedy is appealing to the government to address the issue.
He told Irie Fm news, that the risk of danger to the students crossing the hector’s river on a makeshift footbridge or zip line is a crisis.
