Man arrested for transporting Haitians who entered the island illegally charged
The St. James man who was found transporting 12 Haitians who entered the country illegally last week, has been charged.
He is thirty-three-year-old labourer, Christopher Piggott otherwise called ‘Boysie, of Montpelier District, in Anchovy.
Pigott is charged with breaches of the Alien’s Act.
Reports indicate that on May 22 at about 10:20 a.m., lawmen acting on information intercepted a black 2012 Nissan Serena motor vehicle along Dolphin Bay main road, in Port Antonio, Portland.
Upon further inspection, lawmen discovered twelve illegal immigrants from Haiti, aboard the vehicle.
Piggott – the driver of the vehicle – was arrested and charged.
His court date is being finalised.
