Lyssons Primary retains Insports Primary School Athletics Championship title

Lyssons of St. Thomas have once again underlined their status as the top team in the island after retaining the  Insports National Primary School Athletics Championship title.

Leading from day two, Lyssons stayed true to form amassing 188 points after 40 events scored to finish ahead of Spanish town who were second with 168.

The top five is completed by Naggo head 160, Greater Portmore 105 and Harbour view 88.5. 

With the result, Lyssons who added the national title to their Eastern Championship crown walked away with a purse worth 500,000 dollars.

Spanish Town as runners up received 250,000 with 200,000 going to Naggo Head in third.

Teams finishing from positions 4 to 10…..pocketed $100,000 each.

The impressive Jevaney Findlay of Spanish town and Shaquan Reid of Glen Stuart were the male champions with 18 points while Danelia Clarke of St. Patrick’s and Shanayah Jacques of Red Hills were the female overall champions.

The lone record to fall on the day went to Windward Road Primary who posted 4 minutes 14.92 seconds to win gold in the mixed 4×400 metre relay.
