The Jamaica Teachers’ Association, JTA is hosting an emergency consultation meeting, to examine the latest wage offer made by the government to teachers in the public sector.
This following several days of industrial action by teachers who are displeased with the negotiations under the restructured compensation scheme.
Yesterday, the Labour Ministry intervened in the matter and thereafter, the JTA met with Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke to outline the teacher’s concerns.
The discussions had with the minister are being outlined during multiple meetings being held this weekend with a view to reach a decision on the vexed compensation issue by next Monday.
Speaking during this morning’s meeting, JTA President, LaSonja Harrison noted that three other meetings will held with the teachers via Zoom today.
