JTA awaits activation of committee to treat issues surrounding new compensation system

As issues with the restructured compensation system continue, the Jamaica Teachers Association, JTA, awaits the activation of the committee to treat with the issues surrounding the restructured compensation system.

Speaking to the media following an early childhood grant presentation ceremony in Manchester on Wednesday, President Lasonja Harrison, noted that the JTA has written to the ministry of finance regarding the anomalies which arose in the compensation review.

She reiterated that there is a provision in the memorandum of understanding signed with the ministry, for the activation of the technical committee for addressing said anomalies.

Meanwhile Mrs Harrison said there have been reports that teachers on leave were told that they would have to apply for their retroactive monies.

She called on the ministry to clarify its position on that matter.
