JLP supporter whose leg was severed during crash on Nomination Day hospitalized

A middle aged female supporter of the Jamaica Labour Party, whose leg was severed during a motor vehicle crash in St Thomas on Thursday, remains hospitalised in serious, but stable condition.

The woman was among party supporters who were on their way home at the end of Nomination Day activities.

Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media.

Among them is one showing a young man administering first aid to the injured lady.

Member of Parliament for St Thomas West James Robertson noted that the quick actions of party supporters, including some nurses, helped in stabilizing the injured woman.

Mr Robertson said he spoke with the injured woman, and her relatives last night, while they were at hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.

The MP said he will be offering support to the injured woman.
