Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard and Shamera Sterling Humphrey among statistical leaders in the Suncorp Super Netball League

 Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard and star defender Shamera Sterling humphrey continue to hold their respective places among the statistical leaders at the halfway point of the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia.

Heading into round 8, Fowler-Nembhard who plays for table-toppers West Coast Fever, leads the league in two categories, scoring with 398 goals and nissan net points with 786, while occupying the number 5 spot in offensive rebounds with 22.

Sterling-Humphrey, meanwhile has been in superb form on the defensive end for defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds, averaging 6.8 deflections and 3.2 intercepts per match to occupy third place in nissan net points with 608.5.

The Montegonian is also first in deflections (48) and defensive rebounds (15), and with 23 intercepts is second behind teammate and compatriot Latanya Wilson who leads the competition with 24 and is third in deflections with 39.

Romelda Aiken-George, the third Jamaican playing with the Thunderbirds, is first in offensive rebounds with 32 and 5th in scoring with 244 goals.

Defender Kadie-Ann Dehaney the other Jamaican featuring among the top 5 in a statistical category is 5th in intercepts with 12.

She returns to action alongside Fowler-Nembhard and Shanice Beckford for the West Coast Fever who play away at the Sunshine Coast Lightning at the Unisc Arena in Queensland on Saturday.

The trio of Aiken-George, Wilson and sterling Humphrey will take center court for Adelaide in the battle of the birds against Queensland at the Nissan Arena in Brisbane.

Action in round 8 however gets underway with Jodi-Ann Ward and her Giants Netball team hosting second place Melbourne Vixens at the John Cain Arena while Shimona Nelson-Jok will suit up for newcomers Melbourne Mavericks against last season’s beaten finalists NSW Swifts on Sunday.
