Executive Director of Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) Mickel Jackson has expressed concern about the repeat detentions of persons under successive states of emergency, without charge.

Her concern comes as the Government declared another round of SOEs yesterday (December 28). The measure will run until the new year.

Speaking with IRIE FM news, Ms Jackson noted that a trend has seemingly emerged, where the same persons have been held without justifiable cause, under several SOEs.

Ms Jackson said more focus needs to be placed on intelligence-based policing.

She questioned the number of persons charged and convicted under the SOEs thus far.

Ms. Jackson added that there is no proof that the SOEs are working in the medium to long term.
