Jamaica confirmed to compete in both global relays at the Penn Relay Carnival

Jamaica has now been confirmed to compete  in the global relay 4×100 and 4×400 metres events which will be one of the main features of the Penn Relays in the United States later this month .

The 4×100 metres event for men and women will be contested approxiamately two hours before the mile relays, on the final day of the meet, however it is unclear whether Jamaica’s leading sprinters will be available for both events.

In a recent statement, Pierce O’callaghan, head of competition management for World Athletics, gave his full support to the global relay, stating that bringing a top level competition opportunity at ‘Penns’ for many of the national relay teams, one week before the World Athletics relay in the Bahamas, is a win-win for everyone.

Meanwhile,  in its move to always expand and remain innovative, the organisers of the Penn Relays Carnival will this year be staging an inaugural Coaches Expo.

Olympian and legendary coach Dr. Jack Daniels will make a guest appearance on the Friday.

The 128th staging of the Penn Relays will be staged at the Franklin Field Stadium in Philadelphia between April 25 to 27.
