The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the fatal shooting of a security guard by an off duty policeman in Duckenfield St. Thomas this morning.

The deceased is 20-year-old Denmar Mckoy of Morgan Lane, Dalvey in St.Thomas.

Lawmen say he was shot in an alleged confrontation with the police man. 

Speaking to IRIE FM news this afternoon, Commissioner of INDECOM, Hugh Faulkner said the incident occurred when the officer allegedly intervened in an altercation between Mckoy and another man. 

Commissioner Faulkner said one of the men allegedly pulled a knife and the officer discharged his firearm hitting Mckoy.
