Heroy Clarke calls on parliament to provide housing for MPs who live outside of the corporate area

Member of Parliament for St. James Central Heroy Clarke, is calling for Parliament to provide housing for MPs who live outside of the corporate area.

This, as he noted that many MPs are forced to travel hours each week to attend parliament and committee meetings.

Speaking at the Joint Select Committee reviewing parliamentarians’ job descriptions last evening, Mr Clarke said it is tedious for MPs to travel into Kingston several days a week.

He noted that while parliament provides drivers, MPs are forced to find accommodation for themselves and their drivers if they have to stay overnight in Kingston.

Mr Clarke said the long hours spent travelling are burdensome.
