7,500 people suffered a stroke in the country last year.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton made the revelation during the Know Your Numbers campaign at Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios, St. Ann on Wednesday.

He said of that number, 2,500 persons died, while the remainder have been severely injured.

He urged persons to get screened regularly to prevent the risk of developing non-communicable diseases.
