Health Ministry advises that children with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease stay home
The Ministry of Health and Wellness said with several cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease being observed in some schools, children who are sick must remain at home.
It said both adults and children can contract the disease, however children 5 years and under, are more susceptible.
Symptoms include, fever, loss of appetite, sore throat and sores in the mouth.
Rashes may also appear on the palms of hands and soles of the feet or other areas such as the knees, elbows and buttocks.
In order to prevent the spread, the Health Ministry is urging persons to frequently wash hands with soap and water, especially after using the toilet and before handling food.
