The Government is considering the introduction of a department or ministry to address the violence plaguing the society.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness lamented that it is practically a feature of the Jamaican society to handle conflicts with violence.

He said while measures have been put in place to tackle crime, the country’s socio-emotional state also needs to be dealt with.

Mr. Holness said the focus will be on all aspects of civil life, from family values to civil rights.

Prime Minister Holness was speaking at the Central Executive Meeting of the Jamaica Labour Party at the weekend.
