Government to implement awards ceremony to affirm entities that excel in different areas of public procurement

The Government has signalled its intent to implement an awards ceremony to affirm entities that excel in different areas of public procurement.

It is the latest in a series of changes, geared at elevating and transforming the country’s public procurement system.

Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke noted that there is an overly tolerable rate of failure in the system and that he is committed to addressing this issue.

He explained that the award ceremony would be one way of improving outcomes while making public procurement a rewarding career option.

Dr. Clarke was speaking on Tuesday at the first day of the Elevate Procurement Conference in St. James.
