The Jamaica Football Federation and the wider football fraternity in South America is today mourning the passing of Brazilian Jose Luis Camago.

Camago worked as a member of the backroom staff of former Head Coach Rene Simoes, with the Reggae Boyz on their historic journey to the FIFA World Cup in France back 1998.

Jose, who has worked in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, came to Jamaica in 1996 with head coach Rene Simoes and after feeling the warm love of the Jamaica people, he made it his own.

He worked in coordination with different team doctors to get the injured players active in the shortest possible time.

The JFF said “Jamaica’s football benefited immensely from his expertise and dedication, and President Michael Ricketts, said Camago worked tirelessly behind the scene to ensure that the players were fit and ready when called, adding ” I want to extend profound condolences to his son Pablo, his other family members and friends, and say a final thank you for all that he did for our football programme.”

His son, Pablo Camago, also served with the National team in a similar capacity after Jose returned to Brazil.
