Dr. Tufton likens new Old Harbour Health Centre, to a mini hospital
Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has likened the new Old Harbour Health Centre, in St. Catherine to a mini hospital.
Ground was broken yesterday by the Health Ministry through the Health Systems Strengthening Programme, HSSP, for the construction of the 930 million dollar facility.
It is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
Speaking during the groundbreaking and contract signing ceremony, Dr. Tufton said the state of the art facility will provide a range of primary healthcare services, including specialist clinics and essential services such as pharmacy, x-ray, and physiotherapy.
He said the features will make the health centre, the first of its kind in Jamaica and the region.
Dr. Tufton said patients’ records will also be made electronic, making the delivery of services more efficient.
