Curfew imposed in Steer Town, St Ann, extended in Tivoli Gardens
A curfew has been imposed in Steer town, St. Ann.
The curfew began at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
It covers Steer Town main Road, the Greenwich Acre Bridge, the Steer Town Community Centre at Chalky Hill main road and the North/South Highway overhead bridge.
During the curfew, all persons within its boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless authorized in writing by the ground commander.
Meantime, the curfew which was imposed in Tivoli Gardens in the Kingston Western Police Division has been extended.
The curfew began at 6pm on Saturday and was to end 6pm, on Monday, however, the police say the measure will remain in effect until 6pm tomorrow.
The curfew covers Spanish Town Road, Industrial Terrace, Heywood Street, Matthews Lane, Water Lane and Marcus Garvey drive.
During the curfew, all persons within its boundaries are required to remain within their premises unless authorized in writing by the ground commander.
Noting that the measure is in response to a flare-up of gang conflict in Kingston Western, head of the division, Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps says efforts continue to tackle the issue.
