Courtney Walsh gives his approval on timing of Stafanie Taylor’s replacement
West Indies women’s team head coach Courtney Walsh has given his stamp of approval on the timing of the decision to axe Jamaica’s Stafanie Taylor as captain and replace her with Barbados all-rounder Hayley Mathews.
The move, ratified by the cricket west indies selection panel at the Cricket West Indies board of directors meeting on Thursday, brings an end to Taylor’s seven-year spell as captain…during which she led the Windies to victory at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in India in 2016.
According to Walsh, the timing gives Mathews enough time to get acclimatized ahead of the upcoming world Cup……adding it could be beneficial to Taylor with the burden of captaincy removed from her shoulders.
