The Court of Appeal is expected to begin hearing arguments today to determine if entertainer Vybz Kartel and his co-appellants should be retried.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, Shawn Campbell otherwise called Shawn Storm, Andre St. John and Kahira Jones had their murder convictions quashed by the Privy Council in March.

They were convicted of the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

The Privy Council also ordered that the case be returned to Jamaica’s appeal court, to decide on whether a re-trial is necessary.

The matter is set for this week, June 10 to 14.

One of the attorneys representing Vybz Kartel, Alessandra Labeach indicates the legal team is prepared.

Kartel and his co-appellants remain behind bars, after the Supreme Court last month, denied an application seeking their immediate release from prison.
