Construction work geared at modernizing University Hospital of the West Indies to start in few weeks

Construction work geared at modernizing the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) in Kingston will start within a few weeks.

This, following a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday, which signalled the start of the UHWI’s Ring Road Re-Routing Project.

The new ring road, which is dubbed a key infrastructure enhancement, will facilitate the phased development of five medical towers on the hospital grounds.

Speaking at the ceremony, Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton described the project as a monumental leap in revolutionizing the country’s healthcare.

He said the modernization works will also help to cement the UHWI’s place as the leading healthcare facility in the region.
