Commissioner Beckford says JFB responded to 1,466 structural fires between January and November 30, this year
The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) said it responded to approximately 1,466 structural fires between January and November 30, this year.
Of that number 1,127 were residential fires, representing 76.9% of total structural fires responded to by the brigade.
Providing an update to IRIE FM News, JFB Commissioner, Stewart Beckford said there was a 1% increase in residential structural fires when compared to the similar period in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner noted that the brigade responded to 252 commercial fires – 17.1% of total fires responded to.
This, Commissioner Beckford said, is a reasonable decline in the number of commercial building fires when compared to the similar period in 2023.
He commended commercial owners and operators for implementing fire safety devices and procedures.
