Burning Spear, Mavado & more to be honored at IRAWMA 2026
Bringing together some of the biggest names in reggae, dancehall, and world music, the 43rd staging of the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) is set to take center stage this Sunday at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center.
IRAWMA’s Production Manager Ryan Bailey says paying tribute to reggae legend Burning Spear is one of the highlights of this year’s ceremony.
Reggae icon Burning Spear will receive the Lifetime and Master of Reggae and World Music Culture Award in recognition of his 57 years of contribution to reggae music and global consciousness.
The ceremony will also honor reggae legend Marcia Griffiths and dancehall star Mavado, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to dancehall music and Caribbean culture.
Vybz Kartel leads this year’s nominations with 11 nods across nine categories. Other major nominees include Shaggy, Sean Paul, Spice, and Shenseea.
