Braeton Primary to get full coverage from CCTV cameras

The Braeton Primary and Infant school in St. Catherine is to get full coverage from CCTV cameras.

Portmore Mayor Leon Thomas made the disclosure this morning at a special devotion in remembrance of 8-year-old Danielle Rowe.

The little girl was abducted from school on Thursday and later found with her throat slashed on Roosevelt Avenue in St. Andrew.

She died at the Bustamante Hospital for Children on Saturday morning.

Education Minister Fayval Williams who spoke at the event said there was need to improve safety and security at primary schools.

She said cameras would be installed at the entrance of those schools starting with Braeton Primary.

Meantime Mayor Thomas explained that some schools in Portmore already have CCTV cameras.

He said he held discussions with the councillor and the Member of Parliament Fitz Jackson regarding Braeton Primary and the decision is for the school to have CCTV cameras across the compound.
