Board Chairman for Retirement Primary in St Elizabeth calls for perimeter wall and proper security, after attack on Principal yesterday

Board Chairman for the Retirement Primary School in Maggotty, St Elizabeth, Herman Samuels has called for the erection of a perimeter wall at the institution to boost security for staff and students.

His call comes after the school’s principal was attacked and chopped by a man in full view of students and teachers at the institution, yesterday (October 21).

The Principal, who sustained wounds to her head and upper body, is being treated at hospital.

In providing an update this morning, Mr Samuels told IRIE FM news, that with the school being in a remote area, and without fencing, members of the school community are fearful.

Noting that only female educators are employed at the school, Mr. Samuels said the fence and proper security are necessary.

He also noted that school administrators will be working with the Education Ministry to provide trauma response counselling to students and staff, next Monday.
