Big clash between Elaine Thompson-Herah & Sha’Carri Richardson at Prefontaine Classic

Two-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah will come face to face with reigning world champion Sha’Carri Richardson over 100 meters at Saturday‘s Diamond League Prefontaine Classic stop in Eugene, Oregon.

It will be the first meeting between Thompson-Herah and Richardson over 100m since last September’s Diamond League final – also held in Eugene – where the Jamaican clipped the American at the finish line to claim bronze.

The race also has a competitive field that also includes Jamaica Invitational winner Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith of the Ivory Coast, Julien Alfred of St. Lucia, Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita of Great Britain along with Americans Brittany Brown, Twanisha Terry and Melissa Jefferson.

The men’s 100m has Akeem Blake in lane 3 and Sandrey Davison in lane 1, with the primary challenge expected from Ferdinand Omanyala ok Kenya in lane 4 and American Christian Coleman in lane 5.

Also down to compete is Olympic champion Hansle Parchment in his pet event, the men’s 110m hurdles where he faces world champion Grant Holloway and American Daniel Roberts.

Two-time world champion Danielle Williams is listed for the women’s 100m hurdles alongside Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico and Nia Ali of the united states.

In the field events, Rajindra Campbell is the lone Jamaican in the men’s shot put while two-time World Championships silver medalist Shanieka Ricketts and Kimberley Williams will contest the women’s triple jump.

Also competing are Natoya Goule-Toppin in the women’s 800m with the trio of Jaheel Hyde, Malik James-King and Roshawn Clarke all confirmed for the men’s 400m hurdles.
