The 2025 Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) is set to bowl off on September 8, with the defending champions Barbados Royals aiming to make history with a third consecutive title. Led by captain Hayley Matthews, the Royals are bringing back their core squad, including Jamaican lower-order batter Chinelle Henry, as they prepare to defend their crown.

The Barbados Royals squad will also feature a blend of homegrown talent and international stars. Barbadian players Afy Fletcher, Aaliya Alleyne, and Kycia Knight will all represent their home franchise for the first time in this tournament. The Royals’ overseas contingent includes Australian wicketkeeper Georgia Redmayne, Sri Lankan opener Chamari Athapaththu, and Australian all-rounder Courtney Webb—adding firepower and experience to the championship side.

Meanwhile, last year’s runners-up, the Trinbago Knight Riders, will rely on the leadership of veteran all-rounder Deandra Dottin to guide a youthful squad. The team boasts a strong Jamaican presence, featuring Rashada Williams and, Abigail Bryce, alongside Shabika Gajnabi, Jahzara Claxton, Zaida James, Jannillea Glasgow, and Samara Ramnath.

Hosts Guyana Amazon Warriors will enter the tournament with seasoned campaigners such as former West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor, Karishma Ramharack, and Shermaine Campbelle. South African fast bowler Shabnim Ismail returns for her third consecutive season, while Australian all-rounder Laura Harris also returns. Adding further strength to the Warriors’ lineup is Australian leg-spinning all-rounder Madeline Penna, making her debut for the franchise.

The 2025 WCPL will follow a double round-robin format, with each team playing the other two sides twice. The top two teams at the conclusion of the group stage will face off in the final, scheduled for September 17 at the Guyana National Stadium.
