A new location has been identified to accommodate some 40 vendors who were displaced by the fire which destroyed the Highgate market in St Mary on Saturday (July 16).

 

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emilio Ebanks reported on Saturday, that the call about the fire was received at about 4:41 am, and 25 firefighters, with units from St Mary, St Ann and Portland responded.

 

There is no report of injury, and investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

 

The estimated loss suffered is still being tabulated.
